đ± When It Feels Slow: Trusting the Season Youâre In
There are seasons in our lives when growth feels visible and energizing.
We see progress.
We feel momentum.
We check things off the list and move forward with clarity and confidence.
And then there are seasons that feel⊠slower.
The kind where healing takes longer than expected.
Where the work is happening, but itâs quiet.
Where the next step isnât obvious.
Where you wonder if youâre moving forward at all.
If youâre in a season like that, this is your reminder:
Slow does not mean stuck.
Slow is still growth.
We Are Conditioned to Measure Progress by Speed
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that moving quickly meant we were doing well.
Fast results.
Fast healing.
Fast success.
Fast change.
But the most meaningful growth in our lives â and in the lives of the children, educators, and leaders we serve â has never been fast.
Itâs been layered.
Intentional.
Sometimes uncomfortable.
Often invisible to everyone else.
And almost always slower than we planned.
The SEL Lens: Development Takes Time
Social-emotional growth is not linear.
Self-awareness develops over time.
Self-management is practiced in real moments.
Relationships are built through repeated experiences of trust.
Responsible decision-making comes from reflection â not urgency.
We would never expect a child to master these skills overnight.
So why do we expect it from ourselves?
Boâs Wisdom đŸ
Bo has never once rushed a season.
When he needs rest, he rests fully.
When heâs ready to move, he moves with his whole heart.
When something captures his attention, he is completely present to it.
There is no comparison.
No timeline.
No sense that he is âbehind.â
And because of that, he is always exactly where he needs to be.
There is something deeply wise in that.
What Slow Growth Is Really Doing
In the slower seasons:
You are building capacity.
You are integrating what youâve learned.
You are healing in ways that canât be rushed.
You are becoming someone new â even if no one else can see it yet.
Slow seasons are not empty.
They are foundational.
A Gentle Reframe
What if this season isnât a delay?
What if itâs preparation?
What if the quiet work youâre doing right now is creating the stability, clarity, and strength you will need for whatâs next?
Growth doesnât only happen when things are visible.
Some of the most powerful transformation happens underground â where roots are forming.
A Reflection for This Week
Instead of asking:
âWhy is this taking so long?â
Try asking:
âWhat is this season teaching me?â
And:
âHow am I growing in ways I canât yet measure?â
As You Move Forward
You are not behind.
You are not late.
You are not missing your moment.
You are in a season of becoming.
And that kind of growth cannot â and should not â be rushed.
đ± Trust the season youâre in.
â Kimberly & Bo đŸđ
